Military spokesman Yahya Saree said the drone was downed with "appropriate weapons" early Wednesday over Yemeni airspace.
"The armed forces continue to defend the country's sovereignty. Responding to any aggression is our legitimate right," he said.
The downing of the drone follows a statement by Saree on Tuesday in which he said Yemeni forces had struck the Saudi tanker NCC Ghazal with several ballistic missiles for violating a naval blockade imposed against Saudi Arabia.
