Zelensky discusses US visit with Macron, offers Ukraine's help in fighting French wildfires

The Head of State announced the conversation on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.

"On my way from Washington, I had a call with President Macron. I informed Emmanuel about the details of my meetings at the White House and in the U.S. Senate, as well as our current prospects in diplomacy. We need to seize every opportunity that can bring us closer to peace, and we coordinated our possible steps. I am grateful for President Macron’s readiness to help and to make every necessary effort," Zelensky said.

According to the President, Macron informed him about the large-scale wildfires in France.

"Ukraine is always ready to help those who have supported us throughout these years of our fight against Russian aggression. I offered France our assistance. Our specialists can join the firefighting efforts," the Ukrainian President stated.

Zelensky added that the two leaders also discussed preparations for the winter, including the supply of air defense and energy support packages that Ukraine urgently requires.

As reported earlier, Volodymyr Zelensky paid an official visit to the United States, where he met with U.S. President Donald Trump and held talks with members of the U.S. Senate.

Following the meetings, the U.S. Senate approved a procedural motion necessary to advance a bipartisan bill on sanctions against Russia and Iran, passing it by a vote of 86 to 12. The bill would authorize the U.S. president to impose tariffs on the five largest purchasers of Russian oil and natural gas.

While in Washington, Zelensky also paid tribute to Senator Lindsey Graham during a special memorial service. The sanctions bill was originally introduced by Graham.
