President Volodymyr Zelensky called on international partners to intensify sanctions pressure on Russian companies that manufacture ballistic missiles.

The head of state made this statement during a meeting with Ukrainian ambassadors, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.

“It is important for everyone to focus as much as possible and achieve better results with sanctions against Russia. Everyone sees, in particular, the ballistic threat from Russia, which we have already discussed repeatedly today. This threat is growing, yet Russian companies that manufacture ballistic missiles are still not subject to strict global sanctions from the entire world. Some key Russian companies that produce ballistic missiles are still not subject to sanctions from the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, Switzerland, or other jurisdictions. “Of the 17 key Russian companies involved in the production of ballistic missiles, most are able to exploit loopholes in the sanctions regimes of various partner jurisdictions,” Zelensky said.

He emphasized that Ukraine must strengthen coordination with its partners to synchronize sanctions policies and close such loopholes.

According to Zelensky, sanctions should apply not only to weapons manufacturers but also to all individuals and legal entities, procurement networks, financial institutions, and transit channels that help Russia obtain critical components for weapons production.

The president also noted that a similar problem exists with North Korean ballistic missiles supplied to Russia. “It would be impossible to manufacture them without the supply of critical components from other countries. And these are fresh shipments to North Korea, not old stockpiles,” he said.

Zelensky instructed officials to ensure a “new and significantly stronger phase” of efforts to apply sanctions pressure on Russia.

As previously reported, President Volodymyr Zelensky instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in conjunction with the Office of the President, to conduct an audit of all international coalitions and cooperation frameworks established to support Ukraine during the full-scale war.
