Ukrainian Navy spokesperson Dmytro Pletenchuk stated this during a TV broadcast, according to Ukrinform.
"Unfortunately, they have now developed a pattern of striking for a second or even third time ships that have long been abandoned or have been sitting in port for years, primarily in the Mykolaiv region. In reality, there is absolutely no military rationale for doing this," he said.
According to Pletenchuk, Russia is attempting to create the impression that it is successfully disrupting Ukraine's logistics.
Read also: Russian forces attack civilian infrastructure in Odesa region, injuring two peopleAt the same time, he noted that even members of Russia's pro-war "Z" community have begun questioning the purpose of such attacks, since Russian propaganda itself has claimed for years that vessels in Mykolaiv have been blocked and that alleged weapons deliveries through the port have ceased.
"Any reasonable person understands that delivering anything to Mykolaiv by sea would seem, at the very least, rather strange," the spokesperson added.
As Ukrinform previously reported, Russia continues trying to disrupt Ukraine's civilian shipping and limit the country's export and import capabilities. However, Moscow has been forced to adapt its tactics and methods after suffering significant losses from strikes by Ukraine's Defense Forces.
