Die gewerblichen Schlachtunternehmen in Deutschland haben im 1. Halbjahr 2026 nach vorläufigen Ergebnissen knapp 3,4 Millionen Tonnen Fleisch produziert. Wie das Statistische Bundesamt (Destatis) mitteilt, entspricht dies einem Rückgang von 0,4 % (alt: -0,7 %) oder 14 700 Tonnen (alt: -24 200 Tonnen) im Vergleich zum Vorjahreszeitraum. Insgesamt wurden im 1. Halbjahr 2026 in den Schlachtbetrieben 24,0 Millionen (alt: 23,9 Millionen) Schweine, Rinder, Schafe, Ziegen und Pferde sowie 343,2 Millionen Hühner, Puten und Enten geschlachtet.
