Fifty years ago, in the center of Fortaleza, in a building whose architecture remains a symbol of the city's memory, one could hear the sound of hurried feet on the wooden floor. Concerned employees would leave their chairs to investigate the source of the noise, often encountering a boy just under 10 years old, playing with the carefree attitude of someone at home.
He was the son of a servant and, since he could remember, had what was then called the "Palace of Justice" as an extension of his school. "My father started as a service assistant. He was always studious, became a teacher, rose through the ranks of the Court, which at the time was small, until he reached the position of undersecretary, equivalent to the vice-director general. A little later, he became the director general," recalls the 58-year-old son, Cid Gerardo Paracampos Liberato.
It was in that building where prominent figures in Ceará and Brazilian justice, such as Judge Auri Moura Costa, the country's first female judge, passed through, that this child, unknowingly, began to sketch out his future. "My father was a very dedicated servant, with an immense desire to work. He would go to the Court both in the morning and afternoon. In the morning, he would come without a suit jacket because the atmosphere was more informal. In the afternoon, he always wore one. It was his habit. He never worked in the judicial area—he was always in administration—but we handled many physical cases, and I developed a taste for it. Obviously, this influenced me," says Judge Mauro Ferreira Liberato, wearing a gray suit, the current vice-president of the Ceará State Court (TJCE).
When I used to run through the corridors, I never imagined myself as vice-president. Neither then, as an adult, nor later. My mother wanted me to be an agronomist, but my father suggested law, and I felt I had chosen the right path. My father was my safe haven; he was an experienced public servant who had great respect for the Court and our society. He was a person with a giant heart, and thankfully, I inherited everything from him," he says proudly, playfully adding: "I can say that I have literally spent 50 years at the TJCE, just not as a judge.
Proof that example can lead to great achievements, the story between father and son is not unique in the corridors of the state justice headquarters. In 2026, behind the scenes of broadcasts that enhance transparency in the judiciary, a new father eagerly awaits the arrival of his son, Davi Lorenzo. "Being a parent, having a family, has always been one of my dreams. Eight months ago, my wife told me she had a present; I unwrapped it and when I saw the baby shoe, I started crying," recalls Régis Davi Batista, a sound operator at the TJCE.
For him, the desire to be a father is as natural as breathing. "I am very close to my father. I have memories of us playing together, going out for walks, watching cartoons... And I just want to repeat that with my son. My father was overjoyed to become a grandfather. The whole family was too. It's something he also always wanted. I can't talk much or I'll start crying," says Régis Davi, who, even though the expected delivery date is only in September, already celebrates his first Father's Day this Sunday (08/09).

There, three years ago, judicial analyst Francisco Robson Colares Menezes had a glimpse into the past when his son, Raulyson Moura Rocha Colares, took office in the same effective position he had assumed 25 years before. "He is following in his father's footsteps," Robson declared at the time in an interview with the TJCE Portal.
Today, while working at the Productivity Assistance Core (NAP) of the Recurrent Classes, the son confirms: "To have followed a similar path to his is a source of great pride." For Raulyson, the day of approval remains marked as "one of the happiest moments in our family." "He was the one who encouraged me to study for that exam, insisting that I take advantage of the opportunity. When I told him I had been approved, the emotion was shared. It was the realization of my dream, but also the culmination of all the support, encouragement, and confidence he placed in me," he remembers.
Surrounded by state justice authorities and emotional family members, Raulyson became a public servant in the building that catches the eye of anyone passing by Avenida Santos Dumont, thus writing another chapter in the history of the Colares family alongside Ceará's judiciary. "Looking at him on that day was one of the greatest rewards of this entire journey. Besides being an example as a professional, he has always been present in the most important moments of my life," Raulyson reminisces.

Ten years ago, he, who was already a father to Mariana, saw his days take on new shapes when his youngest daughter was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). "She was two years old and didn't verbalize. That's when our concern arose. We sought consultations, conducted investigations, and the conclusion was autism, ADHD, and intellectual disability. We started her treatment in 2016," he details.
From the diagnosis, Antônio, a servant since 1995 and, at that time, in his 11th year as secretary director, recognized himself, before any other role, as primarily a father. "So that I could accompany her in therapies, I resigned from my position as secretary director and became more present in the daily life. Undoubtedly, today I am a different Antônio, more human and solidaristic. She is improving every day, evolving at school. We take care to provide living conditions for her to grow and develop healthily. When we become parents, we think we won't be able to cope, but in reality, Mariana and Isis' lives came to me as blessings, protection, and God's grace."
Stories like these and those of countless other parents and children intertwine silently every day in the corridors of the TJCE across the state, demonstrating that justice, beyond processes and sentences, is also made up of people with pasts and presents that gradually sketch out the traits that will shape their future.
