Vladimir Putin visited an exhibition dedicated to the development of Far Eastern cities at the Buryat State University.
The head of state was shown an exhibition dedicated to the implementation of master plans for cities in the Far East and the Ulan-Ude agglomeration by Minister for the Development of the Far East and Arctic Alexei Chekunkov and Head of Buryatia Alexei Tsydenov. Minister of Construction, Housing and Utilities Irek Fayzullin presented the key regional support measures.
The master plans are designed to unlock the economic potential of cities and towns in the Arctic and Far East, creating more comfortable living conditions through the construction of modern housing and social and cultural facilities, the development of roads, the modernisation of utilities and engineering infrastructure, and the improvement of public spaces.
During the tour, Vladimir Putin met 13-year-old Vyacheslav Kazekin, a finalist in the seventh season of the Bolshaya Peremena national competition. Vyacheslav had previously invited the President to visit Buryatia during a personal meeting in Krasnoyarsk. The school student shared his dream of becoming a pilot and flying a supersonic fighter jet, and asked the President for assistance in enrolling in the Irkutsk Suvorov Military School.
The President also spoke with Lieutenant Colonel Dashibal Munkozhargalov, a participant in The Time of Heroes programme, who proposed amending a government resolution to allow municipalities to develop military camps currently under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Defence.
