During his trip to the Novosibirsk Region, Vladimir Putin toured the Specialised Educational Scientific Centre of Novosibirsk State University (SESC NSU). The President visited the school’s gym and library, and spoke with students, postgraduates and young scientists. He was also given a presentation on the new NSU campus.
SESC NSU is a specialist institution focusing on physics, mathematics, chemistry and biology. It employs 240 faculty members and enrols approximately 600 students from 41 regions of the Russian Federation, as well as from other countries. More than half of the teaching staff are scientists from the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The centre currently employs ten doctors of science and around 80 holders of first-level doctoral degrees.
The head of state was accompanied by Regional Governor Andrei Travnikov, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, Minister of Education and Science Valery Falkov, Presidential Aide Andrei Fursenko, First Deputy Speaker of the State Duma Alexander Zhukov, NSU Rector Dmitry Pyshny and other officials.
