"In the future, it is likely that the presence of aircraft carriers [at the basing locations] will be reduced, as they will be queued for the shipyard," Clark said, as quoted by PBS.
He emphasized that theUS Navyhas 11 aircraft carriers, typically two or three are deployed at a time, but soon a fourth may be necessary. As Clark points out, theaircraft carriers require maintenance, and only two shipyards provide it..
"Everything will end with such debt obligations formaintenance servicethat will have to be paid in the coming years," said the expert.
Previously, American media reported that the most advanced US aircraft carrier USS Gerald Ford, during itsparticipation in the US operation against Iran, suffered more than the military claimed, and repairs could take a year.
