The campaign funds of candidates for federal deputy reach R$ 982.8 million, surpassing the amounts of all other positions up for election this year. The information is from the accounting platform of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE). The numbers may still change throughout the campaign.
Of these resources, R$ 932 million or 95% come from public financing, such asParty FundingAnd the electoral fund. Another R$ 50.6 million is private resources, divided between individual donations (R$ 27.8 million), own resources (R$ 13.2 million), and collective financing (R$ 3.9 million).
The costs of the election for the Chamber of Deputies are higher than those of legislative assemblies (R$ 406.7 million), the Federal Senate (R$ 174.9 million), state governments (R$ 196.6 million), and the president (R$ 83 million).
Regions
The Southeast is the region with the most resources for a federal deputy campaign: R$ 397 million. Of this amount, R$ 188 million is allocated to São Paulo, the state that elects the highest number of deputies, 70. Following are the expenses for the Northeast, at R$ 264 million. The South has R$ 151 million; the North, R$ 100 million; and the Central-West, R$ 71 million.
Parties
The parties with the largest resources for federal deputy campaigns are PL, with R$ 253.8 million, and PT, with R$ 172.1 million. Next come PP (R$ 98.2 million), PSD (R$ 76 million), and União (R$ 64.2 million).
The parties that received the most private resources are PL (R$ 8 million), Novo (R$ 7 million), PT (R$ 5.7 million), and PSD (R$ 5.1 million).
Limits
The campaign spending and personnel hiring limit for each federal deputy candidate is R$ 3,176,572.53, the same as in the 2022 elections. In 2018, the limit was R$ 2.5 million.
For the senator position, the limits vary, ranging from R$ 3,176,572.53 in less populous states to R$ 7,115,522.46 in São Paulo. Each candidate for state or district deputy can spend up to R$ 1,270,629.01.
Federal deputy candidates also have limits for hiring campaign personnel. The numbers vary by state, from 342 staff in Tocantins to 6,584 in São Paulo.
