The inflation rate in Germany is expected to be +2.9% in August 2026. It is measured as the change in the consumer price index (CPI) compared to the previous month. As the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) further informs, based on the results available so far, consumer prices increase by 0.2% compared to July 2026. The inflation rate excluding food and energy, often referred to as core inflation, is expected to be +2.4% in August 2026. Prices for energy are expected to increase by 10.5% compared to the previous month. This further increases the cost of energy in August (July 2026: +8.3% compared to July 2025; June 2026: +3.4% compared to June 2025).
