Preparing for Payment

September is an exciting time of year as you and thousands of students prepare to take the next step in your education, whether that’s starting university for the first time or returning for another year of study.

It’s a big milestone, bringing new opportunities, experiences and independence. We know that receiving your student finance payment is an important part of getting ready for the academic year ahead, and we’re working hard to make sure students receive their funding as quickly as possible.

This month, we’re scheduled to pay £2.6billion in maintenance support to 1.1m students across England, helping to manage living costs as the new academic year begins. Tuition fee payments will follow in October, paid directly to your university on your behalf.

So, as your payment date approaches, here are simple tips to help you get ready.

• Remember, payments can only be made once you’ve registered, and your university has confirmed this to us.
• If you register right on or just before the expected payment date, this date will change. But don’t worry, just keep an eye on your online account and we will reschedule your payment date as soon as we’ve heard from your university.
• An important one - check your bank details are accurate and up to date in your online account!
• Look out for the text message we send to let you know your payment is on the way.
• Check on the status of your payment at any time via your online account.
• Our contact centres can get busy at this time of year, so please check your online account, or review the common questions, before getting in touch.
