Audio: Rules approved that facilitate regularization of embargued rural areas

The Senate plenary approved on Wednesday (2) a bill that requires federal, state, and municipal environmental agencies to inform rural property owners notified of environmental crimes about the possibility of regularization immediately upon notification of the irregularity. The proposal (PL 6.531/2025) by Senator Sérgio Petecão (PSD-AC) had Senator Zequinha Marinho (Podemos-PA) as rapporteur. The text also releases the owner from economic penalties — such as the suspension of rural credit — if the environmental agency does not respond to the agreement within a 60-day period.
